title: Me-r-Maid*
*(three words inside one: me, la mer, being a maid)
Everybody knows the story of The Little Mermaid written by H.C. Andersen in 1837. But what of its meaning? What does it mean to have two natures: a body divided between a life under the water and one on earth?
Such questions can arise when you are in trouble or in progress with your existence. A few months ago, Claudia arrived in Copenhagen and immediately started feeling far from her life and her mother tongue, jumping between unknown spaces as she tried desperately to grasp a very difficult new language.
This highly physical performance is about metamorphosis and change, the Little Mermaid mirroring the sensation of being divided, adrift in the impossibility of being only one thing at the moment.
A 25-minute performance by Claudia Domenici, with special thanks to Christina Hildebrandt.
HIT Preshow performances are offered FREE OF CHARGE thanks to the support of Nordea-Fonden.
